COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL ENERGY STORAGE

Commercial battery storage designed around your site.

Reduce peak demand, store surplus solar, shift energy to better tariff periods and build greater resilience — with a BESS designed around your load profile and electrical infrastructure.

WHAT SHOULD BESS DO FOR YOUR SITE?

Start with the operating problem, not the battery size.

Commercial storage can solve very different problems. The useful capacity, inverter power and control strategy depend on which problem matters most.

PEAK SHAVING

Use stored energy when site demand spikes.

Battery power can support the site during higher-demand periods, reducing how much power needs to be drawn from the grid at once.

  • Reduce short-duration grid peaks
  • Support constrained site capacity
  • Coordinate with EV charging and other loads
GRID DEMAND Flatten the peak. Battery output supports the site during the highest-demand period.
HOW WE SIZE COMMERCIAL STORAGE

A 200kWh battery is not automatically a 200kWh solution.

Commercial BESS design needs both energy capacity (kWh) and power (kW) considered against the site’s real load profile. We use the site data to understand the opportunity before fixing the equipment.

01

Half-hourly consumption

Shows when energy is used and where peaks actually occur.

02

Maximum demand

Helps establish the power requirement — kW matters as much as kWh.

03

Existing / planned solar

Shows how much surplus PV may be available to store.

04

Operating hours

A factory, gym, farm and office all have very different load shapes.

05

Connection & export limits

DNO constraints can materially change system architecture.

06

Backup priorities

Critical-load power and required runtime need defining separately.

FEATURED C&I PLATFORM

SolaX AELIO commercial energy storage.

A modular all-in-one C&I storage platform for businesses that need integrated battery storage, power conversion and energy management.

Final specification, usable capacity, operating modes and warranty are confirmed against the selected configuration and project design.

COMMERCIAL CASE STUDY

278kWh of storage alongside 300kW of solar PV.

For Grant UK, Sunergy delivered a 278kWh commercial battery storage system designed to capture and reuse surplus energy from an existing 300kW solar PV array.

The aim was straightforward: increase on-site use of solar generation, reduce avoidable grid import and give the client clearer visibility of how the system performs over time.

FROM DATA TO COMMISSIONING

A commercial BESS project should have a clear engineering route.

We keep commercial storage practical: define what the system needs to achieve, prove the technical route, then specify equipment around that requirement.

01

Initial data review

We look at bills, half-hourly data, maximum demand, operating hours and existing generation.

02

Technical feasibility

We review connection capacity, DNO requirements, equipment location, protection and site constraints.

03

Business case & design

We model the chosen use cases and develop the BESS power, capacity and control strategy.

04

Delivery & aftercare

Installation, commissioning, monitoring, handover and ongoing O&M support.

SELECTED COMMERCIAL CLIENTS

Experience across real operating sites.

Commercial energy projects need coordination between electrical infrastructure, operations, manufacturers and the network — not just battery hardware.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Commercial storage, without the jargon.

If you already have half-hourly data or a proposed solar design, send it over — it gives us a much better starting point.

Yes. A BESS can charge from the grid and be used for load shifting, peak management, resilience or other site strategies. The business case depends on the site’s tariff, load profile, available capacity and control strategy.
We do not size a commercial system from annual kWh alone. We consider half-hourly demand, maximum kW, operating hours, existing or planned generation, connection limits, required discharge duration and the use cases the battery needs to deliver.
It can where the system is specifically designed for backup or off-grid operation. The required switching arrangement, critical-load power, duration, protection and battery reserve all need to be engineered into the project.
Often, yes. We review the existing generation, metering, export arrangements and electrical architecture before designing the storage integration.
Many commercial projects require network assessment and may involve G99 and/or export-limitation requirements. The exact route depends on the site connection and proposed equipment. Sunergy can support the relevant DNO process as part of the project.
Modern C&I platforms provide remote monitoring of battery status, power flows and operating data. The exact portal, reporting and remote-control functions depend on the selected manufacturer and project configuration.
PLANNING A BESS PROJECT?

Send us the site data. We’ll help work out what storage can actually do.

A bill is enough to start. Half-hourly data, maximum demand and an existing solar design make the first assessment even better.
